Description of the Somerset Apartment, a beautiful flat located on Bedford Gardens in Kensington
This elegant vacation rental apartment is ideally located off Kensington Church Street, between trendy Notting Hill Gate and elegant Kensington. It is literally surrounded by restaurants, cafés, antique shops and trendy fashion stores. As with all of our properties, it is one of the safest and most sought after locations in central London.
The apartment occupies the first and second floors of a beautiful Victorian home. It is well decorated and comfortable. Importantly, it is centrally located in stylish Kensington, on a quiet street.
Enter the apartment from the main entrance of a beautiful, transformed Victorian home.
The kitchen is on the half landing, on the way up to the living room. It is a small but well-organized kitchen with every appliance: frig/freezer, burners, oven, dishwasher, microwave, coffee pot, toaster, tea kettle, etc.
On the first floor (second floor American), find the double living room with sofa and two armchairs in the front half along with a large dining room table to seat up to 8. The sofa and chairs face the working fireplace, with green carpet and deep green velvet sofa. It is a spacious area and excellent for relaxing in at the end of a long day of site seeing and shopping.
The second half of the living room has a large, comfortable sectional sofa, tv with video player and stereo. It is a sunny, south-facing room with classic large Victorian windows and a homey feel. There is free wireless internet access, great for keeping in touch while on vacation.
On the half landing to the second floor find bathroom 1, with shower, sink, wc and washer/dryer.
The bedrooms are on the second floor (third floor American) with a queen-sized bed in the master bedroom and lots of closets. It is a large and elegant room.
The second bedroom has a twin bed with twin underneath. The beds are new and comfortable for a good night’s sleep.
The second bathroom is located in between the two bedrooms, and features a bathtub, toilet and sink.
This is a non smoking home. Sorry, but we do not allow pets.
Location
The neighborhood is unquestionably one of the best in
London
, as you are minutes walk from
Kensington Church Street
, Kensington High Street and Notting Hill.
Kensington Church Street
is famous for its antique shops and restaurants. Two of our favorite restaurants are Clarke’s, where you should reserve early for their fixed lunch or dinner. They also have a bakery which sells a wide selection of fresh bread daily, a real treat. Trendy
Kensington Place
is located at the top of the street and serves excellent fish.
Notting Hill Gate is filled with shops, cafés and restaurants. The tube (subway) is 3 minutes walk and goes direct to the City of
London
, the second largest financial district in the world. The famous Portobello Market antiques market is in Notting Hill Gate; be sure to go early on Saturday mornings.
A few blocks away you will find Kensington High Street, a popular, upmarket shopping street. Shop at stores such as Marks and Spencer, Barkers, Zara, Habitat, Muji, Lush, Talbots, Monsoon, Accessorize, Mac, Urban Decay etc. Additionally, get your Starbucks latte nearby or eat at numerous good cafés and restaurants.
Transportation is excellent: the tube stop is 3 minutes away and there are numerous buses along Notting Hill that will take you to all of museums, shows and sites that you would like to visit. The tube station is very convenient, 3 minutes walk from the house.
Finally,
Kensington
Gardens
is 5 minutes away and is great for cycling, running and picnicking on warm days.
Kensington
Palace
is there, home to the Royal Dress Collection, including Diana’s wedding dress. Museum Row is 10 minutes walk.
We think you will love staying here when you visit
London
. It is a beautiful, central location with easy access to restaurants, shopping and museum row. Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
