Walking down the entrance to the mews is like stepping back in time, back to when London mews were built as private stables for the horses and carriages of the homes in front. All of these buildings have been transformed into luxury homes over the years and are much coveted because of their quaint "mini-neighborhood" feel and cobble stone paving.

Located in Kensington just off Hornton Street, we named this designer mews house after this pleasant street between Kensington Gardens and Holland Park. Guests love walking through the streets lined with Victorian architecture to nearby Kensington Palace or along the walkways through Holland Park. The Hornton is only a twenty minute stroll through the Kensington Gardens to the famous museum row, where you'll find the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum. Enjoy the shopping and restaurants of Nottinghill and High Street Kensington. Or explore the quiet streets of Kensington and visit the artist homes such as the Leighton House and the Linley Sambourne House, a remarkable chance to learn about Victorian home design, decoration and lifestyle.

It's a pleasure to cook meals for your family and friends in the Hornton's newly remodeled kitchen featuring cherry wood cabinets and black granite countertops. You'll find everything you need for preparing and serving an elegant meal and all of the modern conveniences, including dishwasher, convection oven, microwave, filter coffee pot, tea boiler and toaster. The kitchen features an under counter refrigerator and you'll find more space in the full-sized refrigerator and freezer in the utility room next to the dining room.

You'll find plenty of counter space for cooking and baking during your stay. While the Kensington neighborhood is full of excellent restaurants, from English, French, Indian, Persian, Moroccan, Italian and so many more, some evenings it's nice to enjoy a relaxing evening at home with your family and friends. Prepare your favorite meal or pick out some local specialties at the markets and shops in the neighborhood and spend a memorable evening at home.

Not far from the Hornton mews you'll find Kensington's main church, the beautiful St. Mary Abbots Church. Located on the corner of High Street and Kensington Church Street, this is a wonderful Gothic Revival church designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott. Don't miss the stained glass window inside dedicated to Sir Isaac Newton who was once a parishioner in this lovely church.

See the Queen's Household Regiment ride through Kensington
While walking along the streets of Kensington, you might just catch a glimpse of the Queen's Household Regiment stopping for tea at one of the cafés in the neighborhood. Have your camera ready!

The Hornton vacation rental apartment is a pleasant walk along High Street or through the Kensington Gardens to the Royal Albert Hall. This distinctive circular building was dedicated by Queen Victoria in 1871 and is still one of England's top performing arts venues. The annual Proms concerts are held at the Royal Albert Hall in the summer from July to September.

Visit the Natural History Museum in Kensington
It's just a short stroll from the Hornton to Kensington's famous Museum Row where you'll find the Natural History Museum, Science Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum. The Natural History Museum is a hit with kids who will be amazed by the reconstructed 85 foot long Diplodocus dinosaur skeleton in the grand entrance hall. The building itself is a marvel of Victorian architecture, designed by Alfred Waterhouse and opened in 1881.

Not far from the Hornton you'll have the beautiful grounds of the Kensington Gardens to explore, which are perfect for enjoying a nice walk or run or picnicking on sunny days. Be sure to visit the beautiful Kensington palace, which was once home to both Princess Diana and Princess Margaret. Enjoy a tour of the State Apartments, where you can get a firsthand view of the palace designed by Sir Christopher Wren and William Kent. You'll also see the Dress Collection displaying period clothing from Victorian times up to some of Princess Diana's distinctive and beautiful gowns.
