The Essex is a charming vacation home located at the end of a tree-lined pedestrian street, a hidden treasure in the center of prestigious Kensington. It is a very quiet street and is surrounded by gardens and trees. When you stroll down this small street, you feel that you have been transported to an earlier century, when Queen Victoria reigned over the British Empire.

2 bathrooms: The main bath has bathtub with shower, sink and toilet; the second bathroom has a bathub, separate full-sized shower, sink toilet and combination washer-dryer. Hot water tank: 80 gallons.

A small row of Victorian houses with delightful front gardens and lush trees face each other to create to frame this beautiful little street. The house is at the end of this delightful street. Nearby is a small primary school, wonderful to hear the sounds of children playing at lunch time. It is very hard to believe you are actually in the center of the most prestigious neighborhood in London ! The joy of this house is the neighborhood, for just around the corner is Kensington Church Street, Kensington High Street and Notting Hill, all lined with shops, cafés and restaurants.

- Kensington Church Street (2 min walk): famous for its antique shops and restaurants. Two of our favorite restaurants there are Clarke's, where you should reserve early for their fixed lunch or dinner. They also have a bakery which sells a wide selection of fresh bread daily, a real treat.
- Kensington High Street (2 min walk): a popular, upmarket shopping street. Shop at stores such as Marks and Spencer, Barkers, Zara, Habitat, Muji, Lush, Talbots, Monsoon, Accessorize, Mac, Urban Decay etc. Additionally, get your Starbucks latte nearby or eat at numerous good café's and restaurants.
- Public Transport:
- Buses (2 min walk): Numerous buses on Kensington Church and High Street Kensington traverse London, taking you to all of museums, shows and sites that you would like to visit.
- High Street Kensington Tube Station (2 min walk) - Kensington Gardens (5 min walk): great for cycling, running and picnicking on warm days. Kensington Palace is there, home to the Royal Dress Collection.
- Kensington Place (10 min walk): Located at the top of the street and serves excellent fish.
- Notting Hill Gate (12 min walk): Walk left on Kensington Church Street to arrive at Notting Hill Gate, one of the new, trendy neighborhoods filled with ethnic restaurants and Left Bank style shops.
- Portobello Road (15 min walk): The famous Portobello Market antiques market is in Notting Hill Gate; be sure to go early on Saturday mornings.
- Museum Row (23 min walk): Natural History Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Science Museum
