Step into the long hallway of the house and a doorway into the double living room opens on your right. First you'll step into the study area and to the right is the living room. The sofa faces the original Victorian fireplace and the room overlooks this pretty street.

This London home is owned by a family who live overseas and only visit London several times a year. They have furnished it for comfort with quality furniture. You feel as though you're in a real home when you stay here.

The den is a simply furnished room next to the kitchen which opens to the beautiful garden. The sofa has a beige slipcover and faces the gas-fired fireplace. The owners live in Africa for most of the year and Kenyan art decorates the room.

From the den towards the garden. This comfortable room is a great place to relax while you're fixing dinner. Open the French doors and enjoy the beautiful garden outside. Find a TV and cable box in the cupboard to the left of the fireplace.

Here is the view from the living room towards the study. A wide balcony opens at the back and overlooks the delightful green garden. In olden days this room served as the formal dining room. The servants worked in the kitchen downstairs. Nowadays, the kitchen and dining area are combined and the living room has a study next to it.

The study has an antique mahogany writing desk on the left, bookshelves and fireplace on the right. French doors open to a wide balcony with pretty views over the garden and the neighbor's gardens as well. A metal grill is behind the curtains for added security.

Walk downstairs to the garden level and the kitchen is on your right. The owners enjoy cooking and you'll find it nicely equipped. The butcher block is in the center, with a 4 burner stove, combination oven/microwave, a separate oven, a large refrigerator/freezer, toaster, tea boiler, coffee maker and a wide range of dishes, pots and pans.

The dining table is antique English oak and is located to the right of the kitchen. A built-in bench with striped fabric sits against the wall plus 4 chairs for dining 'en famille'.

Walk up the stairs to the first floor (second floor American) to the master bedroom and bathroom suite. The bedroom faces the small Kensington street.

The master bathroom is en suite to the master bedroom and has a large bathtub, double sinks, glass-enclosed shower, toilet and even a bidet. Pretty beige Italian botticcino marble along the walls, with a darker marble countertop.

Bedrooms Two and Three on the Second Floor
Take the stairs to the second floor and you'll find bedrooms two and three plus bathroom two. The second bedroom is on your left, a charming room with the original fireplace. The queen bed is good quality and comfortable. This room overlooks the back gardens of the lovely Victorian homes in this Kensington neighborhood.

Walk up the stairs to the second floor (third floor American) and the second bathroom is directly ahead. Nicely remodelled it has a sink, toilet and shower.

The third bedroom on the Second Floor
The third room is on the second floor next to the second bedroom. There is a double bed and bookshelves just beyond. This sunny room features two windows that overlook the street.

The view from the front of the house is as charming as the view from the back. We love this neighborhood which has survived intact for hundreds of years!

The powder room
The powder room or 'loo' as the English say is on the ground floor in the corridor beyond the living room.

Rent a row boat on The Serpentine
On sunny days, picnic in Kensington Gardens, rent a row boat or paddle boat on The Serpentine. It's wonderful to be so close to two of the largest City Parks in the world - Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park.

Princess Diana's dresses are on display at Kensington Palace
Visit Kensington Palace to see a collection of dresses and gowns owned by the late Princess Diana.

The most famous dress that is on loan is the midnight blue velvet ballgown by Victor Edelstein. She wore it at the White House in 1985, when she danced with John Travolta. This gown set a record of $225,000 in 1997 when Diana sold 79 of her dresses at a charity auction at Christie's New York. It broke the previous record of $145,000.

Also featured is the pink and blue silk taffeta gown worn by Diana in Melborune Australia when she and Prince Charles lit up the dance floor.

Kensington Gardens is three blocks away where you can visit the Palace where Diana lived. This is one of the largest parks in the center of any City, delightful to picnic in on sunny days.

Natural History Museum in London
The Queensgate loft apartment sits across from Imperial College and Museum Row, allowing for a pleasant stroll through the college's campus to visit the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum (one of our favorite Victorian 'grand buildings').

The Royal College of Art, The Royal Geographical Society (where Victorian explorers such as Livingston hung out in the Victorian era), and many more interesting sights are just outside your door.

Visit The Royal College of Music, where budding opera singers and musicians apply to attend from around the world (stop by and check the programs for ongoing operas and recitals given at reasonable prices by the students year round). Attend concerts all year young at the Royal Albert Hall, famous for its multitude of concerts of all varieties - from classical Opera to pop.

World class shopping just a few minutes away!
The location of the Queensgate apartment is also walking distance to the world class shopping of London: Knightsbridge, Sloane Street and the chic designers stores around Bromptom Cross. The old Michelin building is one of the landmarks, converted to the Conran store with restaurant.

London is also one of the centers of Interior Design - and the Queensgate is also walking distance to some of the biggest interior design stores - on Sloane Square, Fulham Road, Walton Street, King's Road and Old Bromptom Road. You'll come home inspired to make changes to your own home!
