London is set to welcome us back to the world of art and culture in a grand way with two special exhibits this year dedicated to Vincent van Gogh. This summer, escape to a vibrant world of colors at the Van Gogh Alive experience in Kensington Gardens. Then this autumn don’t miss Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience making its much anticipated London debut. Mark your calendar for these immersive high tech shows that bring the works of one of the world’s most-loved artists to life so it feels as if you can step right into the paintings!

Van Gogh Alive in Kensington Gardens

Summertime is the perfect time to visit Kensington Gardens – and this summer even more so! The Van Gogh Alive experience is coming to this beautiful London Royal Park from June to September 2021. A purpose-built 25,000 square foot building near Royal Albert Hall in the south side of the park will be the home for this popular show that has drawn over 7 million visitors in 65 cities around the world. This is a true multi-sensory experience that immerses you completely into the word of Van Gogh’s artwork through thousands of images, an evocative classical score, and even aromas from Provence help set the scene as you travel on a journey through the life and works of Van Gogh. The multimedia experience covers the artist’s time in the Netherlands, Arles, Saint Rémy and Auvers-sur-Oise along with many of his most iconic masterpieces.

In addition to the immersive experience, visitors to Van Gogh Alive can explore an interpretive area with more in-depth information about the artist’s life and work as well as interactive art stations where you to add your own artistic touch to the day. There’s also the fun life sized recreations of Van Gogh’s ‘Bedroom in Arles’ painting where you can walk in and take photos or experience the ‘Sunflower selfie room’ with hundreds of sunflowers surrounded by 360 degrees of mirrors. Traveling to London later this year or in early 2022? Then you won’t want to miss Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience coming this autumn to London. Hugely successful across Europe and the United States, this show will transform a former 19th century stable building near the famous Old Spitalfields Market into a massive exhibition space dedicated to bringing Van Gogh’s greatest works to life in a 360-degree, floor-to-ceiling digital projection. Watch as Van Gogh’s vibrant colors and swirling designs fill the massive space with their brilliance and then explore galleries dedicated his life, painting technique and artistic influence.

This engaging exhibition also includes a multi-sensory VR experience that takes viewers through a day in the life of Van Gogh with an in depth look at the inspiration behind some of his most iconic works, including Vincent’s Bedroom at Arles and Starry Night Over The Rhone River. Even if you’ve seen Van Gogh’s paintings in person, you’ve never seen them brought to life in this extraordinary way.
