Tucked away on a quiet residential street off Ladbroke Grove lies the offices and showroom of Loaf, a homegrown London-based furniture manufacturer. Founded by Notting Hill native Charlie Marshall, Loaf fills a gap in the city’s furniture market with its collection of hand crafted, laid-back furniture at an attainable price.
Just a short stroll from the famous candy colored homes of Notting Hill, Loaf’s showroom is a little difficult to find, but completely worth the journey. Make your way up a few flights of stairs and you’ll be welcomed by a bright airy space with more than its fair share of comfortable seats. Featuring over sized sofas in pleasing tones, tables constructed from reclaimed wood and nap-ready mattresses, Loaf’s collection masterfully straddles the line between style and comfort.
Unique, comfortable and effortlessly chic, furniture by Loaf feels right at home in trendy West London. However, what really sets the company apart from its competitors is the hand crafted touch and support of the UK furniture making industry. The company’s upholstered headboards, for instance, are handmade in Long Eaton, Derbyshire – a region where furniture manufacturing is a heritage industry.
While Loaf always maintains a small stock of immediately available pieces, the company generally operates on a made-to-order basis, allowing customers to choose custom fabrics to suit their tastes. It usually takes six to eight weeks for Loaf to assemble the furniture from scratch. Delivery can be arranged anywhere in the UK and trained delivery staff will be on hand to install your furniture and even dispose of packaging for you.
So whether you’re in search of a little London-born design inspiration, a small decor item to bring back home from your London stay or you’re furnishing newly purchased London apartment, stop by the Loaf showroom and feel free to loaf around!
